Manatee County Holiday Schedule: Thanksgiving Closures and Service Adjustments
This Thanksgiving holiday, Manatee County in South Florida is adjusting its schedules to accommodate the festive period, affecting numerous public services. These temporary changes are essential to ensure that residents can plan effectively for the holiday.
Manatee County Government offices have officially closed from Wednesday, November 26 through Friday, November 28, 2025, as staff and services observe the Thanksgiving holiday. During this closure, particular attention needs to be paid to adjusted schedules for critical public services such as waste collection and library operations.
Residents in unincorporated areas are reminded that garbage and yard waste collection services will experience a one-day postponement. Thursday’s collections are scheduled to take place on Friday, and Friday’s collections will be moved to Saturday, thereby syncing with the holiday closure schedule. This delay requires residents to hold onto waste materials for an additional day, ensuring they are properly disposed of in this period of high family and social gatherings.
Library enthusiasts will face some ephemeral inconveniences as all Manatee County Library locations closed early at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. This shutdown will persist through Thanksgiving Thursday and the subsequent Friday, with normal operations resuming on Saturday, November 29, at 9 a.m. During this brief intermission, access to the library’s rich resources, both physically and digitally, will be unavailable, urging patrons to plan accordingly.
Public transit systems are similarly influenced. The Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT), which provides vital services across the region, including its fixed-route and Handy Bus services, will halt operations entirely on Thanksgiving Day. These services, however, will recommence on Friday, ensuring residents have access to transportation for post-holiday activities.
These Thanksgiving closures highlight the importance of planning around essential government services during holiday seasons to avoid unnecessary inconveniences. Residents are encouraged to adjust their schedules in line with these changes, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable holiday experience.
