Manatee County Expands Governance: New Lakewood Ranch Hub to Boost Efficiency

Last Updated: September 23, 2025By

Manatee County is taking significant steps to modernize its administrative capabilities by relocating several services to a newly acquired building in Lakewood Ranch. This strategic move aims to streamline operations and enhance efficiency in the county’s governance. In early September 2025, Manatee County officials closed on a substantial real estate investment—a two-story, 101,312-square-foot building located at 9000 Town Center Parkway. The acquisition, totaling $23.5 million, is part of a broader effort to consolidate services and manage ongoing staff expansion. With renovations, the total expenditure is projected to reach nearly $35 million.

This relocation is part of a comprehensive plan to facilitate better service delivery by consolidating essential departments under one roof. The new facility will host Development Services alongside six other pivotal departments: Public Works, Human Resources, Property Management, Financial Management, Government Relations, and County Administration. By centralizing these services, Manatee County aims to improve interdepartmental communication and collaboration, ultimately providing more responsive services to residents.

The new building in Lakewood Ranch is designed to house approximately 600 county employees, including top officials. This development reflects the county’s proactive approach to addressing its capacity challenges and supports the region’s growth. Lakewood Ranch, a rapidly expanding community, was chosen for its strategic location and potential to accommodate future growth demands.

While the new site will serve as a hub for several key departments, Manatee County will retain its existing offices in downtown Bradenton, ensuring continuity in essential government functions. This dual-location strategy is expected to balance accessibility for residents and operational efficiency. As Manatee County continues to evolve, this move signifies a commitment to modern governance and enhanced service delivery for its growing population.
